Professional Accreditation

My name is Kirsten Lock and I was educated within the German crafts guild system where I have reached the highest level of dressmaking, specialized in historical costumes at the University of applied Sciences and Arts in Hamburg, Germany.

“I produce clothes and costumes for film, television and theatre that make the characters seem real to the audience.”

This includes pattern drafting (flat and on the stand), costume construction, corset making, millinery, ruffs and rebatos, foundation wear, stretch wear and body padding, advanced tailoring techniques, hand embroidery, distressing and costume enhancement.

This industry is largely powered by word of mouth – directors, designers and producers prefer to work with recommended people so reputation is crucial.

The majority of my day-to-day work comes from colleagues recommending me.
